Shelter from the Storms of Love

Appeared on Acrylic Teepees

(David Munyon / S.P. Standley)

I remember as a child

The rain would fall on any given afternoon

And with my bike against the wall

Life contained the reasons and excuses for my blues

Dodging hate that really was not meant to harm

Playing make-believe sometimes until dawn

As a young boy with very wide eyes

Seeking shelter from the storms of love

Later on at twenty-two

After graduating heartbreak and her memory

With my back against the stairs

I drank away the hours and cried away the dues

Every now and then the promise of the road

Abandoned chapter's far behind in the cold

Stands a young man with a searching heart

Seeking Shelter from the storms of love

As a man at forty-five

I watched the world go crazy there in '68

An', with my friends there in the clouds

The psychedelic questions came in chasing Watergate

As the Truth gave way to coverups

I quit roaming to save some peace of mind

Still the answers never did arrive

Seeking shelter from the storms of love

Seeking shelter from the storms of love

Seeking shelter from the storms of love
