Watercolors (Baby for you)

Appeared on Purple Cadillacs

Words and Music by David Munyon

I had the idea to write an entire album of songs with Eric Clapton, but I did not have his phone number and did not have a phone. I had an old picture of Eric and I spoke to his picture as if I was talking to him, you know, because this was the only thing I could do, and I asked God to help me with some song titles. So "we" wrote this one song and decided it should be on this particular CD and album. I gave Eric co-writer credit for this song, and I still do not have a proper phone.

Monsters in the ocean

And in the dirty parts of town

Lucy drives to Fayette, Arkansas

Just to see the circus clowns

Some dogs are up and at them, usually by six o'clock

Talking with their tails and eyes,

Lovin' puppies in a box

Me. I'm just a carpenter, I hammer nails and saw

And I wear a thin diguise... I build a lot

Then the storms shower down and the wind it wears

Some of the nails turn to rust,

Seems the lumber doesn't care

Watercolors, colorful for you

Watercolors, colorful for you

I know a man designs buildings

Made of block and steel

He goes to France twice a year

Eats the fancy meals

I got to drive to Berlin

So I can see my friend

He's getting old, his hands are getting thin

He said "it's odd about America

It never seems to end"

I paint, Watercolors, colorful for you

Watercolors, colorful for you

Go-Go Dancers on the go

Retirement is near

There are many minds at work

I was asleep for years

We are like a people, many nations all

I might go to India, or maybe Thailand too

I'd like to go anywhere, anywhere with you

So... I paint Watercolors, colorful for you

Watercolors, colorful for you

I paint Watercolors, colorful for you

Watercolors, colorful for you
