The O.K. Corral

(David Munyon / S.P. Standley)

a Western song... written as a Western Song about the Old West and Wyatt Earp... one of my Heroes.

Between the dragoon and the whetstone mountains

Sets the western town of Tombstone

Virgil Earp's awake now

And the coffee's probably still on

Last night there was a slight altercation

A Chinaman died playing Faro

No one would help and his

Blood's probably still on the floor

The Clanton's and the Mc Laury's

Raised cattle near the San Pedro river

And it's funny how cattle and horses

And crime seem to mix

Ike Clanton was a gambler and drinker

And whiskey's a fuel for a fire

And a colt 44 is so real when it's worn on your hip

1881 and the law is the gun

And you better keep your powder dry

The O.K. Corral is the battlefield

And a couple of cowboys will die

And a couple of lawmen will ride

Doc Holiday looked like an actor

In a play about the desperately dieing

Trying to take all you can

By winning one hand

But you can't win when the odds are against ya'

And hour by hour you listen

For the hammer of a six gun to click

And this might be it
